Buy Land in Alabama:  The lowest property taxes in America

     Alabama has the lowest property taxes in the nation according to a 2009 report from the Washington-based Tax Foundation.
 
     The report was based on information gathered in fiscal year 2007. According to the report, Alabama landowners paid an average of only $455 of property taxes, ranking us #50 in revenue generated by states through property taxes. (This information is also cited in an October 2008, article on Landreport.com).

     Low property tax is one very good reason to invest in rural land in Alabama. If you were considering a piece of rural land in Perry County, you would be looking at a low millage rate of 47 mills.....

     This past weekend I was able to take my five-year-old son camping for the first time on our family land here in Perry County, Alabama. We spent a whole week planning this one night.

     We did it right with the campfire to cook hot dogs and S'mores. The citronella candles kept the insects away. The weather could not have been any better. Everything came together to make our first night together in the tent perfect. My hope is that this is the first of scores of camping trips we share together.

     When one begins to think about investing in an asset they usually have a couple of goals in mind.  First, they are usually hoping that their invesment will increase in value.  Second they are trying to protect their future ability to utilize the asset.  Relating this to land…When someone buys a parcel of land, they hope that the parcel of land will increase in value and they have protected themselves by investing in a tangible, usable asset.  This is a lesson that wealthy families, families that have wealth generation after generation,  have known for quite sometime.  It seems simple, but few actually put it in practice.  Land is much prefered to carry wealth over from one generation to the next.  Most of the wars that have been fought in the world have been for control of land in some fashion.  Land is the essence of what God used to make us and what sustains us.
