Buy Land in Alabama:  The lowest property taxes in America

     Alabama has the lowest property taxes in the nation according to a 2009 report from the Washington-based Tax Foundation.
 
     The report was based on information gathered in fiscal year 2007. According to the report, Alabama landowners paid an average of only $455 of property taxes, ranking us #50 in revenue generated by states through property taxes. (This information is also cited in an October 2008, article on Landreport.com).

     This past weekend I was able to take my five-year-old son camping for the first time on our family land here in Perry County, Alabama. We spent a whole week planning this one night.

     We did it right with the campfire to cook hot dogs and S'mores. The citronella candles kept the insects away. The weather could not have been any better. Everything came together to make our first night together in the tent perfect. My hope is that this is the first of scores of camping trips we share together.
